Step 3 of 5: Estimate Your Trademark Registration Costs: Understand What You'll Pay and Why

When applying for an international trademark application under the Madrid System, you pay a single set of fees in just one currency (Swiss francs – CHF). This helps simplify your budget planning and reduces paperwork.

Cost breakdown for a new international trademark application:

1) Basic fee

653 CHF for a black/white mark
903 CHF for a mark in color

2) Complementary fee

100 CHF for each Madrid System Member where you seek protection (in some cases an individual fee replaces this complementary fee); and

3) Supplementary fee

The first three classes in your international trademark application are free. You pay 100 CHF for each additional class.
