Collective Marks as Tools for Local Development

In the Tunisian context, collective marks are particularly relevant for sectors, such as dates, olive oil, honey, Sejnane pottery, traditional carpets, textiles and other products connected to local traditions, regions and methods of production.

Through practical discussions and examples from Tunisia, participants examined the key steps involved in developing, registering and managing collective marks, including the identification of beneficiaries, the preparation of regulations of use and the establishment of governance and control mechanisms. Participants also discussed how collective marks can support credible market positioning, build consumer trust and create greater value for local products and the communities behind them.
