Collective Marks as a Tool for Development: Indonesia
The Development Agenda Project on Collective Marks in Indonesia is working in the Province of Bali with local communities engaged in the spa and handicrafts sectors. This initiative supports entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under the collective mark “UnBALIvable.” The goal is to use this collective mark as an intellectual property tool to boost tourism, add value to local products, and empower communities to take ownership of their creativity. By uniting under a shared brand, local artisans and businesses aim to strengthen their market position and showcase the unique craftsmanship of Bali to the world.
WIPO has partnered with a National Team, comprising of the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) of Indonesia and the Provincial Government of Bali, to ensure the success of the project. Several local institutions are also providing valuable support, helping to strengthen and sustain the project’s long-term impact.
