Empowering National Focal Points: Regional Induction Training Boosts Capacity for Development Agenda Projects in Latin America and the Caribbean
January 17, 2025
The first Regional Induction Training for the National Focal Points from Latin America and the Caribbean countries took place in person on November 26 and 27, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It marked the first of two in-person, two-day regional induction trainings for national focal points supported by Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global (FIT/Japan IP Global).
Methodology and Innovative Tools for Effective Development Agenda (DA) projects Management
The training was carefully structured to cover two main objectives: the first day focused on educating participants about the methodology developed by the Development Agenda Coordination Division (DACD) for the successful implementation of DA projects, and the second day introduced Design Thinking and Problem-Solving tools as complementary skills for effective project management.
The training proved to be an enlightening experience for participants. They gained valuable insights into the Development Agenda and its methodology for implementing DA projects, fostering strong interest and enthusiasm for aligning their work with the DA’s recommendations. The sessions clarified roles and responsibilities, empowering focal points to manage DA projects more effectively and sustainably. The hands-on training in Design Thinking and brainstorming was particularly well-received, as these tools were recognized as essential for enhancing stakeholder engagement, risk mitigation, and adaptability in project execution.
Strengthening Alignment with DA Objectives
Participants also expressed their appreciation for WIPO’s ongoing support in the Latin America and Caribbean region, acknowledging the training as an essential step in building their capacities and aligning their efforts with the DA’s objectives. The program reinforced the importance of collaboration, continuity, and creative problem-solving to ensure the success of DA projects.
