Expedited Case Processing

WIPO's Expedited Case Processing service delivers panel decisions in one-month from start to finish (filing to decision) in UDRP cases. This service is designed to serve parties with urgent needs while maintaining the quality and integrity and fairness of UDRP proceedings WIPO is known for. For questions or case-specific inquiries, please contact domain.info@wipo.int.

Key Features

  • Total Processing Time: 30 calendar days or less from case filing
(includes mandatory compliance review, registrar verification, ICANN-mandatory 20-day response period, and decision drafting and notification)
  • Dedicated case management team
  • Specialized roster of expedited panelists
  • Streamlined processing while maintaining procedural fairness
  • Available for UDRP cases and ccTLDs that have adopted the UDRP
  • Either party can elect (times may be slightly longer if on the basis of a respondent election)
  • Expedited cases do not apply to 3-member panel cases

Important

  • Complainant responsiveness to WIPO notifications is critical to maintaining the expedited schedule (i.e., Complainant should be on the lookout for and prepared to reply promptly to WIPO notifications such as notice of registrant information, language of the proceeding or any filing deficiencies)
  • Voluntary suspension periods are excluded from the one-month calculation.
  • While we do monitor our emails outside of business hours, to help us give your case the best attention, please try to avoid submitting cases just before weekends or on WIPO holidays.

How to request Expedited Case Processing

At Initial Filing (Complainant Initiated)

  • Flag requests for expedited case processing clearly in the subject line and/or cover email (for example: "EXPEDITED UDRP COMPLAINT - [Domain Name])
  • You may use the simplified model complaint, available here
  • Pay the Expedited Case Processing Fee at the time of filing
  • While we do monitor our emails outside of business hours, to help us give your case the best attention, please try to avoid submitting cases just before weekends or on WIPO holidays.

Requests submitted after initial filing

  • Complainant-initiated: the complainant may file a standard UDRP complaint and may request that the case becomes an expedited case after the case has been notified for the remaining case steps – in this scenario, WIPO will expedite the remaining parts of the case: Panel appointment and Decision notification.
  • Respondent-initiated: in the event a complainant has not requested expedited case processing, a respondent may request to expedite the remainder of a standard single panel complaint from the filing of its response – which may even be submitted early, before the 20-day deadline – by voluntarily paying an expedited case processing fee of 2,500 USD.

Fees

  • For a case involving between 1 and 5 domain names (with the same registrant only), the complainant fee for expedited case processing is 4,000 USD (1,000 USD to WIPO; 3,000 USD to the Panel).
  • The fastest way to guarantee receipt of fee payment is to pay by credit card or Current WIPO Account.
  • Suspension remains possible for expedited process and if the parties settle USD 3,000 will be refunded to the Complainant.
