WHEREAS by Gazette Notification No. 513 dated the 31st January 1991, notice was given of the intention to make an order under section 11 of the Trade Descriptions Act 1972;

AND WHEREAS no objection was received by the Pengarah, Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pengguna, Tingkat 10, Blok 10, Kompleks Pejabat-pejabat Kerajaan, Jalan Duta, 50622 Kuala Lumpur against the making of such an order:

Citation and Commencement

1. This Order may be cited as the Trade Descriptions (Marking of Non-Pressure Kerosene Stove) Order 1991 and shall come into force on the 1st October 1991.

Words or Mark to be Displayed on the Non-Pressure Kerosene Stove

2.—(1) Every non-pressure kerosene stove supplied or offered to be supplied in the course of any trade or business shall have securely affixed, label or mark on the non-pressure kerosene stove, in a prominent position—

(a) the words “COMPLYING WITH MS 971”; or

(b) the standard mark for which a licence for the use of such a standard mark for non-pressure kerosene stove has been approved by the Council of Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia under the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (Incorporation) Act 1975.

(2) Every non-pressure kerosene stove bearing the words or the standard mark as provided under subparagraph (1) (a) or (b) shall comply with Malaysian Standards MS 971.

(3) The words “COMPLYING WITH MS 971” shall be in block letters of not less than 3 millimeters in height and shall be printed in a colour most conspicuous against its background.

(4) The standard mark shall comply with the standard mark approved by the Council of Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia.

Prohibition

3. No person shall in the course of any trade or business supply or offer to supply any non-pressure kerosene stove which does not comply with the requirements of this Order.
