ADVERTISEMENT
concerning the establishment of a Patent Office
to handle the implementation of Acts concerning
intellectual property rights in industry
(patents, trademarks etc.)

The Minister of Industry has decided to assign to a special institution under the auspices of the Ministry the task of implementing Acts and international agreements concerning intellectual property rights in industry. This institution shall assume the duties of the Ministry’s Patent and Trade Marks Department. This arrangement and the scope of the institution's responsibilities has been decided in accordance with the authorization in the first paragraph of Article 7 and the first paragraph of Article 69 of the Patent Act, No. 17/1991, and Articles 12 and 46 of the Trade Marks Act, No. 47/1968, cf. Act No. 31/1984.

The institution shall be known as the Patent Office and be located in Reykjavík.
The arrangement described above shall be implemented on 1 July 1991.
