The Plant Breeder's Rights Act 1994 provides the granting of proprietary rights to breeders of certain new varieties of plants and fungi and repealed the Plant Variety Rights Act 1987, and provides for related purposes.

This compilation of Australia's plant variety protection laws, which was prepared on 6 January 2003 by the Office of Legislative Drafting and Publishing, Attorney-General’s Department, Canberra, takes into account amendments up to the Plant Breeder’s Rights Amendment Act 2002 (Act No. 148 of 2002).
