Year of Version 2006 Dates Entry into force: September 27, 1962 Adopted: September 3, 1962 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Patents (Inventions), Trade Names, Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, Transfer of Technology, IP Regulatory Body, Other Notes This law (also known as the Profit Remittance Law)' provides disciplines for foreign capital investment and remittances of funds abroad, and other measures.'
According to the law, foreign capitals are goods, machines and equipment imported to Brazil with no initial disbursement of foreign currency, for the production of goods or services, as well as financial or monetary resources introduced in the country for use in economic activities. In both cases, foreign capitals must belong to companies or individuals with permanent residence or headquarters in foreign countries. The term 'goods' has been defined to include trademarks, patents and technology transfers registered with INPI.

Esta lei (também conhecida como a Lei de Remessa de Valores) 'disciplina a aplicação do capital estrangeiro e as remessas de valores para o exterior e dá outras providências.'
De acordo com a lei, os capitais estrangeiros, para os efeitos desta lei, os bens, máquinas e equipamentos, entrados no Brasil sem dispêndio inicial de divisas, destinados à produção de bens ou serviços, bem como os recursos financeiros ou monetários,
introduzidos no país, para aplicação em atividades econômicas desde que, em ambas as hipóteses, pertençam a pessoas físicas
ou jurídicas residentes, domiciliadas ou com sede no exterior.
