This Code was created by Act No. 92-597 of 1 July 1992 on the Code of Intellectual Property, as published in the Official Journal of 3 July 1992. The Code, which contains both legislative and regulatory parts, consolidates most of the existing laws governing the two main branches of intellectual property, that is, (1) industrial property and (2) literary and artistic property. The Code is regularly updated by the Parliament and was last consolidated following Act No. 2006-236 of 1 March 2006, as published in the Official Journal of 2 March 2006.
