Year of Version 1999 Dates Adopted: May 12, 1961 Type of Text Main IP Laws Subject Matter Industrial Designs, Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights), Enforcement of IP and Related Laws, IP Regulatory Body Notes This consolidated version of the Copyright Act takes into account amendments up to Act No. 19 of April 16, 1999, which came into force on April 16, 1999.
For the amendments introduced by the said Act No. 19, see the following provisions of the consolidated version:
-Chapter 2, Sections 12 and 21;
-Chapter 3, Sections 39g and 39h;
-Chapter 5, Section 43; and
-Chapter 8, Section 58.

The notification by Norway to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'Act No. 4 of January 9, 1998 amending Copyright Act in 1998 made necessary amendments due to the implementation of Article 4 of Directive 92/100/EEC on rental rights, lending rights and on certain rights related to copyright into Norwegian Law. The amendments in 1998 to the Copyrights Act of 1961 applied to articles 39m, 42, 54 and 55.
Act No. 19 of 16 April 1999 made necessary amendments due to the implementation of Directive 96/9/EC on the legal protection of databases into Norwegian law. The amendments of 1999 to the Copyrights Act of 1961 applied to articles 12, 21, 39h, 43 and 58.'
