Year of Version 1986 Dates Adopted: August 29, 1986 Type of Text Implementing Rules/Regulations Subject Matter Undisclosed Information (Trade Secrets), Other Notes The Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 make provisions for implementation of section 16 of Part III of the Food and Environment Protection Act, relating to control of pesticides.
The notification by the United Kingdom to the WTO under article 63.2 of TRIPS states:
'The Regulations empower the Minister to give approval to pesticides. The Regulations include provisions protecting the disclosure of confidential information.'
Regulation 8 (“Release of Information to Public”) provides that commercial use or unauthorized publication of information contained in the evaluations of and study reports submitted on pesticides is prohibited, unless authorized in writing by the Ministers so to do.

Section 1 of these Regulations states that they come in to force on October 6, 1986, with the exception of regulations 3(3) & 4(1) which take effect on July 1, 1987, and regulation 4(5)(b)(i) on January 1, 1988.
