The Amendment Act was adopted on December 14, 2016; was published in Part I of the State Gazette [Riigi Teataja] on December 31, 2016 (RT I, 31.12.2016, 1); and came into force mostly on January 10, 2017.

The consolidated Law of Obligations Act contains provisions relating to the calculation of compensation for damages for infringement of copyright and industrial property rights, the transfer of copyrights and related rights required by competition organizers, and the measures to prevent further infringements of intellectual property rights (see Part I, Chapter 7, Section 127(6); and Part 10, Chapter 49, Section 1013, and Chapter 53, Section 1055(3)).
