Year of Version 2015 Dates Entry into force: February 23, 2015 Adopted: February 20, 2015 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Copyright and Related Rights (Neighboring Rights) Notes Law No. 2015-195 of February 20, 2015 transposes EU law on aspects of intellectual property and cultural heritage in order to strengthen the protection and promotion of French and European cultural heritages and copyrights, in particular in terms of related rights.

The Law amends the Intellectual Property Code (IP Code), relating to (1) the term of protection of related rights of performers and producers of sound recording (see Articles L211-4, and Articles L212-3-1 to L212-3-4 of the IP Code) ; and relating to (2) the use of orphan works by non-profit institutions (see Articles L134-5, Chapter V (Articles L135-1 to L135-7), and Article L211-7 of the IP Code).

It further amends the Heritage Code relating to the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from territory of member state (see Articles L111-1, L112-1, L112-2, L112-5, L112-8, and L112-10 to L112-13; Sections 1 & 2 of Chapter 2 of Title Ier of Book Ier).
