Notes:
The Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda was adopted by referendum on 26 May 2003 and entered into force on 4 June of the same year. Since then, it was amended four times (2003, 2005, 2008 and 2010). This text of the Constitution incorporates all four amendments, the most recent being from June 17, 2010.

The Constitution provides for a clear separation of powers, with a legislative branch composed of an independent bicameral parliament; an executive branch comprising the Prime Minister, Ministers, Ministers of State and other members who may be determined, if necessary, by the President of the Republic; and a judicial branch composed of: the Supreme Court, high courts of the Republic, provincial courts, districts courts, and mediation committees.

The Constitution does not contain specific provisions concerning the protection of Intellectual Property rights, however, Article 29 of Chapter I: “Fundamental Human Rights”, in Title II: “Fundamental Human Rights and Rights and Duties of the Citizen” guarantees the respect of private property.
