The Agricultural and Marine Products Quality Control Act, previously called the 'Agricultural Products Quality Control Act', was renamed due to the organizational change in the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. This Ministry is currently divided into the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
This consolidated version of the Agricultural and Marine Products Quality Control Act incorporates all the amendments up to Act No. 12064 of August 13, 2013, which entered into force on November 14, 2013 and February 14, 2014.
The said amending Act No. 12064 created new Article 98-2 (Measures according to Results of Certification) under Section 3, Chapter VII of this consolidated version, which entered into force on November 14, 2013.
Chapter 1, Article 2 of this consolidated Act defines geographical indications of agricultural and fisheries products.
Chapter 3 contains provisions relating to registration and examination of a geographical indication, and opposition to the registration of a geographical indication (Articles 32 to 55), and prohibition against false or deceptive indications of the products (Article 38).
