The Law of Turkmenistan on Property guarantees equal protection for the development of all types and forms of property.
The Law is divided into 8 sections: general provisions (Section I); private property (Section II); state property (Section III); property of organizations (Section IV); property of joint ventures, states and their legal entities and individuals (Section V); mixed (joint) ownership (Section VI); property of cooperative societies (Section VII); and guarantee and protection of property rights (Section VIII).
Article 2(3) provides that the development of scientific works, the creation of works of art, literature, and the use of inventions and other IP rights are regulated by the Copyright Law, other laws of the Civil legislation and intergovernmental agreements.
Article 3 states that the property assets include tangible assets and intangible assets such as patents, copyrights, and among other things.
Article 4 defines intellectual property as one of forms of property ownership in Turkmenistan.
Articles 9 and 15 define the results of intellectual activity as a form of property ownership of citizens of Turkmenistan and public associations (organizations).
