Notes
This is the consolidated text of the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, which was prepared in 2001 including the consolidated text of the Constitution in 1998 and 2000 with the amendments to the Constitution in 2001. The Constitution defines Croatia as unitary and indivisible democratic and social state in which power derives from the people and belongs to the people as a community of free and equal citizens.
The Amendments to the Constitution that were introduced in 2000 and 2001 by the Croatian Parliament changed the legislature's structure from bicameral back to unicameral and reduced the Presidential powers.
The Constitution contains the provisions concerning the protection of intellectual property rights. Article 68 guarantees the freedom of scientific, cultural and artistic creativity. It states that the State shall promote the development of science, culture and the arts and protect scientific, cultural and artistic goods as national spiritual values.
