WIPO Global Awards 2026 open for startups and SMEs worldwide
The WIPO Global Awards celebrate startups and SMEs that use intellectual property (IP) to grow their businesses and generate positive impact. The first edition of the competition was launched in 2022 to recognize innovative and creative businesses that turn IP into real-world value.
The 2026 edition of the WIPO Global Awards is open between 15 January and 31 March 2026. Applications are accepted in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Russian. Entrepreneurs from all industries and all regions of the world can apply.
In 2026, 10 company awards will be offered to 5 startups and 5 SMEs selected from various sectors, and a new thematic award will be given to an SME in the sports sector (echoing the theme of World IP Day 2026), in addition to 2 Special Mentions (Best Woman Entrepreneur and Best Youth Entrepreneur).
The winners will gain international recognition through the WIPO-UN network system and will be offered a customized 6-month mentorship on IP strategy, commercialization, and business growth. They will also have chances to connect with investors, corporations, institutions, and business hubs worldwide. The winners will be invited to attend an Awards Ceremony in Geneva during the WIPO Assemblies to be held in July 2026.
