The Algerian Authorities have launched on April 9 the program of celebration of World Intellectual Property Day 2025 in Adrar.
Established by the National Algerian Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI), the National Office of Copyright and Related Rights (ONDA), and the External Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Algeria, this program is spread over one month and includes several events in different Wilayas. It will be implemented in collaboration with many institutions, including universities across the country.

It revolves around the theme chosen for this year Intellectual Property and Music: Feel the beat of IP and aims to promote a better understanding of intellectual property and
to highlight how creativity and innovation, backed by IP rights, keep a vibrant, diverse, and thriving music scene that benefits everyone, everywhere.
The launch of the program was held at Ahmed Draia University of Adrar. It was opened by introductory speeches delivered by the Vice-Rector of the University, the Director of the Technology and Innovation Support Center, the Director of Innovation at INAPI, and the Director of the External Office of WIPO in Algeria. The various speakers emphasized the role that intellectual property rights, such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, or copyright, play in promoting innovation and creativity. They paid tribute to creators, inventors, and entrepreneurs who shape the future of music and make us feel its beat.
The also emphasizes the importance of a balanced IP system to recognize and reward those inventors, creators and entrepreneurs for their work and ensure that society benefits from their creativity and ingenuity.

The first day was marked by the organization of several workshops on “Traditional Musical Instruments in the Touat Region,” an “Introduction to Industrial Property,” and “Literary and Artistic Works and Rights Holders under Algerian Legislation.”
The second day was also an opportunity to organize several other workshops on “Research in WIPO Patent Databases,” “Patent Drafting,” and “Copyright Protection.”
The event was also marked by the organization of an exhibition of handcrafted products (with 45 participants), including musical instruments, and an Innovation Fair.
As far as the Innovation Fair is concerned, the Jury established by the University awarded prizes to the three best innovations in each of the three categories in competition:
- The Young Inventors Competition in which 23 competitors participated ;
- The Best Local Invention Competition in which 35 competitors participated;
- The Best Student Inventor Competition in which 33 competitors participated.
More than two hundred students, researchers, musicians, artists, writers, and secondary school students participated in this event and in the various activities organized on that occasion.
Artistic performances were provided by two famous musical groups (Opening and Closing of the event) and several renowned musicians were honored during the closing Ceremony.

This event was sponsored by several regional structures, including the municipalities of Adrar and Timmi, the regional directorates of Culture, National Education, Professional Training, Youth, SMEs, the National Micro-Credit Management Agency, and the National Entrepreneurship Support and Development Agency, as well as the Chambers of Handicraft, Commerce, and Industry.
Furthermore, it was attended by many officials from the Wilaya, including the Deans of the different Faculties, the University teaching profession, the Director of the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture, the regional Directors of SMEs, Handicraft, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Micro-Credit Management Agency, and the National Entrepreneurship Support and Development Agency.
