Vinod Kumar Gupta

Presently Mr. V K Gupta is holding the position of Head, Information Technology Division of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) (at the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India) and Chairman, Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL). Prior to this, he was the Director of two laboratories of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – National Institute of Science Communication & Information Resources (NISCAIR) and also had the additional charge of National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS). He had also held the post of Director, SAARC Documentation Centre (SDC) and Deputy Director-General, National Informatics Centre, Government of India.

Mr. Gupta is the Chairman of Traditional Knowledge Digital Library. He has been instrumental in the preparation and implementation of the TKDL Project. He is responsible for developing an innovative classification system in Traditional Knowledge known as Traditional Knowledge Resource Classification (TKRC). He has created international awareness on traditional knowledge for its acceptance and recognition.

He has published and presented more than 100 scientific papers in various international journals/conferences on Protection of Traditional Knowledge, Intellectual Property Rights and Information Technology.
