May 16, 2022

The third chapter of our podcast series WIPOD – International Trademark System Talks is now available. In this podcast, we cover perspectives and insights, as well as the historical background of WIPO’s Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks.

In this new episode of International Trademark System Talks, we discuss the birth of the Madrid Agreement, by diving in the city of Madrid of the 1890’s and exploring the conferences on intellectual property that took place there in 1890 and 1891. Why was the capital of Spain chosen for this event? Which countries attended and what happened during the several days that the conference took place?

You can find the answers to all these questions and more in our new episode, available on Spotify , Apple Podcasts and Google Podcasts

The previous episode is also available. In this one, our host takes you to the Paris and Rome conferences where a first draft of the Madrid Agreement was discussed.

These 15-minute episodes bring you historical information as well as amusing stories and curiosities. For example, did you know that on the very last evening before the end of the conference, the Spanish regent queen offered a gala banquet for over 1000 people? Curious to know more? Tune in to get the answer to those questions and other fun facts about the Madrid System.

Tip! Make sure to subscribe to International Trademark System Talks on your favorite streaming platform so you do not miss new episodes.
