Hague System – Amendments to Rule 14 of the Common Regulations

March 27, 2023

On April 1, 2023, the amendments to Rule 14 of the Common Regulations Under the 1999 Act and the 1960 Act of the Hague Agreement adopted by the Assembly of the Hague Union at its thirty-sixth session will come into force.

The amendments to Rule 14 will allow the International Bureau to invite the applicant to make payment of at least the basic fee for one design before starting its examination. This will help improve service delivery by focusing examination on cases where fees have been paid.
