Hey there! Welcome to our tutorial.
In this video you will learn how to create and validate your Current Account at WIPO. A Current Account at WIPO is your financial account managed in Swiss Francs for regular, fast, and secure transactions at WIPO.
Opening an account is a way to simplify the online payment process and enable you to monitor all your transactions fast and easily. We recommend a Current Account at WIPO when you often make transactions with WIPO and would like to avoid making multiple bank transfers and paying bank charges.
Please note that it is not possible to open a Current Account at WIPO for onetransaction only.
How to open a Current Account at WIPO? Let's do it step by step right now!
First of all, create a WIPO Account. Please do not confuse a WIPO Account and Current Account at WIPO.
The WIPO Account is your personal user account to access all WIPO's online services. While a Current Account at WIPO is your financial account where you can deposit a sum of money and which you can use to make your transactions. You can check one of our previous tutorials about how to create a WIPO Account.
After creating a WIPO Account, fill in the Current Account at WIPO request form. Click on "Protect and Manage" in the upper menu of WIPO's website. A menu will open.
Find the menu title "Paying for IP Services". Click on "Current Account at WIPO". Scroll down the page and find the section "What would I like to do?" You can find a step by step guidance about how to open a Current Account at WIPO by clicking on the corresponding title.
To open an account, click on "Open a Current Account at WIPO".
Log in to your WIPO Account to proceed.
Once you are logged in to your WIPO Account, you will see your name in the upper right corner of the webpage. Start filling in the request form to open a Current Account at WIPO. Please note that asterisked fields are mandatory and the supporting documents must be submitted in English or in French.
The e-mail address appears automatically and it is the individual e-mail you have indicated for the opening of your WIPO Account. However, it is a good practice to provide a main generic e-mail of your company once the Current Account at WIPO is open to be sure to receive all our communications on time.
Remember to read the conditions for opening, using, and closing a Current Account at
WIPO. Then check the corresponding box and click on "Send". Your request was submitted. If you need to contact WIPO about this request, please

You will receive an acknowledgement of the reception of your request to the e-mail address provided. Please don't reply to this e-mail. If your file is incomplete or we cannot assess the frequency of use, we will contact you for more information.
Once your request for the Current Account at WIPO has been assessed and approved, you will receive another email that will invite you to transfer a minimum of two thousand Swiss Francs to your Current Account at WIPO as an opening deposit.
You can find the bank and postal transfer payment details in the document attached to the email on page 5. Once WIPO receives the deposit amount, your Current Account at WIPO will be opened and ready to be used.
You will receive an e-mail with the number of your Current Account at WIPO. Please indicate your Current Account at WIPO number as a purpose of payment every time you make bank transfers to top up your account. In a separate e-mail you will receive a link to access your Current Account at WIPO.
In the same e-mail you will find a username and a password to log in to your financial account.
Remember to keep these credentials in a safe place for security reasons but available for the authorized colleagues within your company.
