WIPO has released the Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISCs) Annual Report 2025, highlighting major developments, milestones, and new resources that supported the continued growth of the global TISC network.
Typically located in patent offices, universities, research centers and science and technology parks, TISCs support researchers and innovators in using the IP system for innovation promotion and economic growth, and to turn good ideas into real products, services and creative works.
Highlights of the 2025 TISCs Annual Report include:
- Continued expansion of the global TISC network: 1,734 TISCs operating in 94 countries who responded to over 2.5 million inquiries from local researchers, inventors and entrepreneurs.
- Growing contribution to IP filing and innovation support: TISCs supported more than 140,000 IP filings and delivered over 9,000 outreach and training events, reaching nearly 1 million people.
- Global launch of the TISC Staff Certification Program: designed to strengthen the skills of TISC staff, the program has already certified 197 TISC staff across 28 national TISC networks.
- Launch of a range of new resources to support TISCs in building their capacity to meet the evolving demands of the innovators they serve in the areas of IP search and analytics, patent drafting, technology transfer, IP commercialization and IP finance.
- Special feature on institutional IP policies: well-designed IP policies provide a clear framework that enables innovators within institutions and external partners to confidently access, share and use knowledge, technology and IP, while supporting TISCs in delivering more effective and systematic innovation support.
