Advanced Seminar on the Patent Cooperation Treaty

Each year, WIPO hosts a hybrid seminar offering advanced users of the  PCT System the chance to deepen their understanding of WIPO’s international patent system and learn directly from PCT experts.

This seminar is for experienced users of the PCT System (paralegals, foreign filing specialists, and patent agents or attorneys), who would like to strengthen their PCT knowledge.
This event is not designed for new PCT users.

Frequently asked questions about the Advanced Seminar on the PCT

Virtual participation in the Advanced Seminar on the PCT includes one full day of presentations and discussions (Day 1). Participation is open to all experienced PCT users.  
Participants attending the Advanced Seminar in person will take part in two days of interactive presentations, discussions and events. Please note that spaces for in-person attendance are limited; If we are unable to accommodate your request to attend in-person, you will still have the opportunity to join the seminar virtually.

No, you will need to arrange all travel and accommodation yourself. 

No, you should check requirements and if necessary, apply for a visa in a timely manner. WIPO does not provide visa support letters for this event.

You should bring your own laptop/electronic devices and country-specific adapters.

Presenters

Matthias Reischle-Park

Deputy Director, PCT Legal and User Relations Division, WIPO

Matthias Reischle-Park is Deputy Director of the PCT Legal and User Relations Division in WIPO’s Patents & Technology Sector. He is qualified to practice law in Germany and holds a degree from the University of Constance, Germany and an LL.M. in European Legal Studies from the College of Europe in Belgium. Since joining the PCT Legal team in 1998, Matthias has been actively involved in the drafting and implementation of amendments to the PCT Regulations and other PCT-related texts and publications.

Shujiang Zhou

LEGAL OFFICER, PCT LEGAL AND USER RELATIONS DIVISION, WIPO​​​​​​​

Shujiang Zhou is a Legal Officer in WIPO’s PCT Legal and User Relations Division. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in polymer engineering from Sichuan University and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property from the University of Edinburgh. He worked for ten years at the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) as a patent examiner and international cooperation project manager and is a qualified Chinese patent attorney. He has also worked at WIPO in PCT Operations and the PCT Information Service.
