El Salvador joins Patent Law Treaty
El Salvador has become the 45th party to the Patent Law Treaty (PLT), having deposited its instrument of accession on 7 July in the margins of the WIPO Assemblies.
The PLT streamlines formal procedures for filing and processing national or regional patent applications – making patent systems more accessible by reducing complexity and ensuring relief measures against loss of rights for applicants.
El Salvador’s accession will take effect from 7 October 2026.
