As a fully self-paced online course, it is designed to provide practitioners across the global innovation ecosystem with a systematic and practical guide to the entire patent analytics workflow.
Comprehensive coverage of the patent analytics workflow
Closely aligned with the end-to-end patent analytics workflow, the course starts by introducing learners to the structure of patent documents and the strategic significance of patent analytics. It then guides them step-by-step through defining data needs, selecting appropriate patent databases, and searching and downloading data. Next, the curriculum focuses on how to clean and structure datasets, as well as applying statistical and visualization tools to analyze technological trends. Ultimately, the course culminates in Data Storytelling – teaching learners how to clearly communicate their analytical findings to decision-makers through professional reports, presentations, and compelling visual stories.
Throughout the learning process, learners will go beyond theoretical knowledge to gain deep, practical experience with commonly used data analytics and visualization tools, including PATENTSCOPE, Excel, OpenRefine, Flourish, Datawrapper and PowerPoint.
