WIPO Nigeria Monthly Webinar Series – February 2025

The WIPO Nigeria Office has kicked off the 2025 Monthly Webinar Series with a successful February 2025 edition focused on the topic "Industrial Property Administration System (IPAS) - Cloud Native Edition (Ver 4.0): Business Benefits and Impact on Nigerian IP Registries and Stakeholders."

The event, which held on Friday February 25, 2025, aimed to introduce participants to the latest iteration of the WIPO IPAS software, Version 4.0, and its potential benefits for intellectual property (IP) management in Nigeria.

The session began with opening remarks by Mr. Oluwatobiloba Moody, Director of the WIPO Nigeria Office. It was moderated by Ms. Victoria C. Onyeagbako, a Doctoral Researcher at Queen Mary University, London, who set the tone for the insightful discussions. The guest speaker, Mr. Hisham Fayed, Head of IPO Support at WIPO, provided an in-depth overview of the capabilities of IPAS 4.0 and its transformative potential for IP registries and stakeholders in Nigeria.

Fayed highlighted key features of the upgraded software, including enhanced accessibility, streamlined registration processes, and improved data security, which would significantly contribute to the efficiency of IP management in the country. He also emphasized how the adoption of IPAS 4.0 could support Nigeria’s growing IP ecosystem by making processes more transparent and user-friendly. The Registrar of the Nigerian Trademarks Registry, Dr. Shafiu Adamu Yauri was also present to provide further insights on the potential benefits of the software for the Nigerian IP system.

The webinar attracted a total of 149 participants, including government officials, IP professionals, and other stakeholders, all eager to learn about the latest advancements in IP management.
