Green Technology Book Special EXPO 2025 Edition
“Home to over half the world’s population and some of the fastest-growing economies, the Asia-Pacific region is a story of diversity, growth and transformation for countries at all stages of development. A new generation of innovators are making the region a hub of innovation in clean energy and climate solution.”
—Daren Tang, Director General of WIPO

WIPO Green launched the Green Technology Book Special EXPO 2025 Edition on energy solutions for climate change in the Asia-Pacific region. Given Asia's scale, growth, and energy intensity, the region plays a decisive role in the global energy transition. This publication highlights proven, emerging, and horizon technologies across key sectors, including households and communities in both urban and rural areas, public transport, hospitality and retail, agriculture and fisheries. This edition made its official launch on 4 October 2025 at the EXPO2025 in Osaka, Japan.

WIPO GREEN joins the AI-powered ClimateTech Search platform
The Innovate for ClimateTech (I4C) Coalition has launched ClimateTech Search (CTS), the world's first federated search platform dedicated to climate technologies. Unveiled at COP30, CTS connects verified databases such as the WIPO GREEN database of technologies and needs into one AI-powered search engine, making it easier to find deployable climate solutions across sectors like energy, agriculture, and industrial production.
Built on Tencent's TanLIVE platform, CTS is a free and globally accessible platform which uses semantic search to deliver credible, multilingual results. As highlighted by Peter Oksen, WIPO GREEN's Green Technology and Research Manager:"WIPO GREEN's collaboration on CTS strengthens our shared mission to make climate technologies more discoverable and transferable worldwide. By integrating trusted databases, we are collectively enabling innovation to reach where it's needed most."

Update from WIPO GREEN Acceleration Projects
Latin America
The fourth phase of the Acceleration Projects in Latin America is now coming to an end. WIPO GREEN's projects supported berry, tree fruit, and tropical crop producers across Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Brazil. Together with local consultants, national intellectual property offices and local partners, we facilitated the matchmaking process between farmers' needs on the field and suitable green solutions within each country. This collaborative approach has promoted the adoption of climate-smart agricultural solutions by a range of producers from smallholders and cooperatives to highly industrialized agricultural operations.
Asia
Across Asia, WIPO GREEN Acceleration Projects continue to address diverse local priorities, from confronting environmental and technological challenges in urban hubs, to supporting smallholder farmers. This year in the China Cities Acceleration Project, Beijing and Shanghai have implemented a total of six sustainable technologies to support energy efficiency and soil health, with more in preparation. In Lao PDR the project, running until the end of 2025, is now focusing on mobilizing funding to deploy climate-resilient coffee varieties and promote strategies for reduced pesticide use in collaboration with local and international research institutions. In India, we identified and deployed sustainable solutions to cut emissions, improve resource efficiency, and enhance farmer livelihoods in the rice, maize and cotton sectors. Finally in Indonesia, our partner WINROCK continues to advocate for palm oil mill effluent treatment, and the partnership will continue through 2026 with the implementation of a new empty fruit bunch composting technology at the mill site.
New AI Summary Feature in the WIPO GREEN Database
The WIPO GREEN Database of Needs and Green Technologies now offers AI-generated summaries for PCT patent applications imported from PATENTSCOPE. This feature helps users quickly grasp the essence of complex patent documents, making it easier to identify key innovations and accelerate green technology solutions.
