Share of GDP

Aimed at journalists, communication advisors and other professionals in the area, the course will address topics such as WIPO's Global Innovation Index (GII) and the Brazilian Innovation and Development Index (IBID), developed by INPI based on the Organization's methodology. IBID maps Brazilian innovation ecosystems, with a ranking of states, serving as a tool to support public policies.

The course will also address studies that seek to broaden the understanding of the economic impact of intellectual property. Among the topics highlighted will be the importance of intangible assets, which, according to a recent study by INPI, already represent investments equivalent to 7.6% of the Brazilian GDP, a share higher than that of sectors such as agriculture, financial services and the extractive industry. The discussion will include the valuation of intangible assets and the use of patents, trademarks and other IP assets to support the attraction of investments and the obtaining of financing by companies.

Course lectures

In the program of the activity, general concepts of intellectual property for communication professionals and strategies to make the topic more accessible to the general public will be presented.

There will also be lectures by INPI on the new edition of the IBID and studies on the economics of innovation and valuation of intangible assets, and a presentation by WIPO on the GII, publications and resources related to innovation and IP.
