Frequently Asked Questions of the Competition

You can enter the competition alone or team up with friends for a group entry (up to 10 participants), but not both. Each person or group gets just one entry. You, or at least one person in your group, need to be between 18 and 35 years old when you submit your application.

The theme of the Competition is “Game Changers: IP Powering Sports Innovation”. We’re looking for videos that explore how innovation, creativity and IP rights are transforming the world of sports. Your video can tell a story, highlight an invention, or share an idea that shows how IP helps drive progress, inspire change, and shape the future of sports. You may wish to focus on one or more of the following areas:
  • How IP supports innovation and creativity in sports.
  • How inventors, creators and entrepreneurs are redefining the game.
  • The impact of IP-driven solutions on athletes, fans, or the broader sports industry.

  • Your video has not been published previously online.
  • The video has not been recognized and/or won an award in another competition.
  • The video was made by you or your group, and you must have obtained permission to use any third-party content included in it.
  • You must provide a proof of authorization to use any background music recordings or sound recordings featured in your video.
  • Your video does not include watermarks or any other similar markings.
  • Your video is in MP4 format and between 60-90 seconds long.
  • Your video does not contain any embedded subtitles or captions.
  • Videos may include audio narrative in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.
  • Your video must not violate any copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, industrial designs, distinctive signs, contractual obligations, or any other IP rights, or other proprietary rights of any third party.
  • Your video may include the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in making your video

Our platform automatically generates a caption file when you upload your video, making subtitle management easier for participants. Once your video is uploaded, the caption file will be created and appear alongside your video. If the captions need any adjustments, you’ll be able to edit the file directly on the platform.

The World IP Day 2026 Video Competition Jury will select the top 20 entries to advance to the public vote and choose the top three videos based on the established judging criteria. Videos will be evaluated on their adherence to the theme, originality, creativity, messaging, visual appeal, and other factors. All decisions made by the Jury are final.

The top 20 shortlisted videos will be open for an online public vote to identify the winner of the People’s Choice Prize. This prize will be awarded to the entry that receives the highest number of votes during the public vote period, which will run from April 6 to 19, at 23:59 CEST.

Each person may cast up to five votes to indicate their preferred entries. Participants of the public vote do not need to have submitted a video to participate in the public vote.

The winners will be announced on April 24, 2026, and will be promoted via other relevant digital platforms.
