BRIN, established in 2021 through the consolidation of multiple research institutions, has since become one of Southeast Asia’s largest scientific organizations, bringing together around 13,000 researchers and staff across 85 research centers and 12 research organizations. Producing more than 6,000 publications annually and managing a growing portfolio of patents and IP assets, BRIN plays a central role in supporting Indonesia’s transition toward a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.

As Indonesia’s research output expands, the ability to determine the economic value of intellectual property is becoming essential for technology transfer, licensing agreements and commercialization pathways. The training addressed this need by providing participants with a deeper understanding of key valuation concepts and practical methodologies. This initiative reflects WIPO’s continued commitment to strengthening national innovation systems by promoting best practices and building trust in IP as a valuable and financeable asset class.

WIPO extends its appreciation to all participants, speakers, and partners for contributing to a highly impactful event. Strengthening IP valuation capacity remains a core element of WIPO’s mission to empower innovators globally and support countries in advancing their IP-based innovation ecosystems. This seminar marks an important step in that effort, both for Indonesia and for the wider ASEAN region.
