Next Editions of the IP and Sports Webinars for Arab Countries Open for Registration

Following the successful launch of the Intellectual Property (IP) and Sports webinar series for Arab countries on April 21, 2026, the second and third webinars have been scheduled for May 26 and June 16, 2026 respectively. The webinars will be held in Arabic with English interpretation from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm CEST. Anyone interested in learning about how IP can support innovation in sports from the perspective of experts and athletes is encouraged to sign up.

Webinar on Copyright & Sports Events

The second webinar, taking place on May 16, 2026 will address “Copyright as a Tool for Protecting Individual Sport Achievements and Preventing the Unfair Exploitation of Sport Events” with Mr. Martin Senftleben, Chair of IP Law and Director of the Institute for Information Law at the University of Amsterdam. The webinar will examine how copyright law can help safeguard athletes’ achievements while addressing unauthorized commercial exploitation of sports events, offering participants valuable legal perspectives on protecting sports-related content and performances.

Webinar on Women in Sports & IP

The third webinar, taking place on June 16, 2026, will focus on “Women in Sports and Intellectual Property” with insights from Ms. Amna Al Haddad, an Olympic weightlifter from the United Arab Emirates. The webinar will highlight the role of IP in empowering women athletes, supporting personal branding, and fostering broader participation of women in the sports industry. The discussion will also explore how IP can serve as a strategic tool to amplify women’s voices and achievements in sports throughout the Arab region.
