Protecting the Liquid Gold of Antigua and Barbuda
Transcript
What happens when local heritage becomes a national brand?
The Antigua and Barbuda Beekeepers Cooperative Society (ABBC)
developed a unified visual identity for their honey varieties.
With support from WIPO’s Build Back Fund,
the Cooperative created three collective marks:
ABBC, Wild Flower Honey, and Barbuda Logwood Honey.
It also positioned its honey varieties as premium export products.
Ecotourism is thriving,
as visitors come to see the beekeeping process,
taste the honey and learn about local practices firsthand.
By combining tradition with strategic branding and IP,
small communities can leverage their cultural assets
into sustainable economic growth.
