The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) notified the International Bureau, in accordance with paragraphs 10 and 12 of the Framework Provisions of the Digital Access Service, that it would extend the scope of its operations in the WIPO DAS to include operation as a depositing Office for patent priority documents as of February 1, 2022

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) notified the International Bureau, in accordance with paragraphs 10 and 12 of the Framework Provisions of the Digital Access Service, that it would commence operation as an accessing office of the WIPO DAS for patent priority documents as of October 30, 2019.  

As an accessing office, CIPO will treat any priority document that is made available via DAS as though it had been filed directly with CIPO by the applicant in accordance with subparagraphs 67(2)(b)(ii) or 72(3)(a)(ii), or paragraphs 74(1)(b), 181(1)(b) or 196(1)(b) of the Canadian Patent Rules.

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) notified the International Bureau, in accordance with paragraphs 10 and 12 of the Framework Provisions, that it would commence operation as both a depositing office and an accessing office with effect from April 1, 2019.

As an accessing office, CIPO will treat any priority document that is available to it via the service as though it had been filed directly with CIPO by the applicant in accordance with subparagraph 27(l)(a)(ii) of the Industrial Design Regulations.

As a depositing office, CIPO will deposit copies of industrial design applications as priority documents when the applicant specifically requests that the Canadian application be made available on the DAS. All documents and information will be exchanged in PDF format through the WIPO DAS Office web portal.
