Year of Version 2001 Dates Enacted: April 27, 2001 Type of Text IP-related Laws Subject Matter Trademarks, Enforcement of IP and Related Laws Notes The Republic Act No. 9135, containing 20 sections, makes amendments to certain provisions of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 1937, as codified and approved by the Presidential Decree No. 1464).
Section 201(C) of the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines relating to transaction value of similar goods, which has been amended by Section 1 of the Republic Act No. 9135, provides, inter alia, that the quality of the goods, their reputation and the existence of a trademark shall be among the factors to be considered in determining whether goods are similar.

Section 20 of the Republic Act No. 9135 states that it takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in the Official Gazette or in any two (2) newspapers of general circulation, whichever date comes earlier.
