As part of its mandate WIPO promotes the broad dissemination of information about intellectual property (IP) and the IP system.
This area provides access to:
- the Electronic Bookshop where users may browse and order copies of WIPO books, periodicals and CD-ROMs. A variety of information products are also available for download, free-of-charge, from the Free Publications site;
- a powerful meetings and documents search facility;
- the WIPO IP Handbook in electronic format which provides information on the various fields of IP protection, the role of IP in development, the enforcement of IP rights, international treaties and conventions on IP, and technological and legal developments in IP;
- a comprehensive list of fully searchable databases;
- the IP Digital Library which comprises amongst others fully searchable PCT (Patents), Madrid (Trademarks) and Hague (Industrial Designs) data collections;
- the Collection of Laws for Electronic Access (CLEA) database providing access to IP legislation from a wide range of countries and regions;
- the Directory of IP Offices providing contact details for all national and regional IP offices;
- statistics on patents, trademarks, utility models, industrial designs, plant varieties and micro-organisms, based on information provided to WIPO by national and regional IP offices;
- the WIPO Handbook on IP Information and Documentation, including WIPO Standards, Recommendations and Guidelines;
- the catalogue of holdings of the WIPO Library (some 35,000 monographs and 300 periodicals);
- Frequently Asked Questions, covering topics such as Arbitration and Mediation, Copyright, Patents and Trademarks;
- information regarding the conditions for opening and use of, as well as access to, WIPO Current Accounts.
