Possible ‘No-Deal’ Brexit: Implications for Madrid System Users

The Parliament of the United Kingdom (UK) has published a statutory instrument providing for continued protection in the UK to marks in international applications and registrations under the Madrid System in which the European Union (EU) has been designated.

Such provisions would only apply in the event of a ‘no deal’ Brexit.

WIPO is releasing information on this statutory instrument to make Madrid System users aware of how their rights would be preserved in the UK – and how to safeguard those rights – in a no deal scenario.
