The European Commission (EC) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launched on November 2, 2008, a project which aims to modernize the intellectual property (IP) system in Bangladesh and to help the country maximize the benefits of IP protection. The project is designed, through various capacity-building measures, to promote effective management of the intellectual property (IP) system, and its strategic use in supporting wealth creation and social and cultural development. It will address the challenges faced by Bangladesh in meeting its international obligations and will support the evolution of the national IP system in line with the country's development objectives.
El 2 de noviembre, la Comisión Europea (CE) y la Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual (OMPI) pusieron en marcha un proyecto que tiene por fin modernizar el sistema de propiedad intelectual (P.I.) de Bangladesh y contribuir a que ese país aproveche al máximo los beneficios de la protección de la P.I. El proyecto, que comprende varias medidas de fortalecimiento de capacidades, está destinado a promover la gestión eficaz del sistema de P.I. y su uso estratégico a favor de la creación de riqueza y del desarrollo social y cultural. De esa manera, se dará respuesta a los desafíos que afronta Bangladesh a la hora de satisfacer sus obligaciones internacionales y se consolidará la evolución del sistema nacional de P.I. en concordancia con los objetivos de desarrollo del país.
Le 2 novembre 2008, la Commission européenne et l'Organisation Mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OMPI) ont lancé un projet visant à moderniser le système de propriété intellectuelle du Bangladesh et à aider ce pays à tirer le plus grand profit de la protection de la propriété intellectuelle. Европейская комиссия (ЕК) и Всемирная организация интеллектуальной собственности (ВОИС) 2 ноября 2008 г. приступили к осуществлению проекта, направленного на модернизацию в Бангладеш системы интеллектуальной собственности (ИС) с целью оказания помощи стране в максимальном использовании преимуществ охраны ИС посредством разнообразных мер по наращиванию потенциала. Проект призван содействовать эффективному управлению системой интеллектуальной собственности и ее стратегическому использованию в создании материальных благ и социальном и культурном развитии. Проект будет содействовать решению стоящих перед Бангладеш задач по выполнению международных обязательств и окажет поддержку развитию национальной системы ИС в соответствии с целями страны в области развития.

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Francis Gurry, and the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC), Ambassador Rigoberto Gauto Vielman of Paraguay, said they would pursue efforts in the coming weeks to bridge differences among member states on the way to move international negotiations forward. The IGC wrapped up its 13th meeting late in the evening of October 17, 2008 after attempts to hammer out compromise texts on the future work program faltered. Despite intense negotiations, delegations were not able to agree on the working procedures required to deliver the concrete outcomes that many have called for from this Committee. The IGC's mandate calls upon it to accelerate its work, and expectations remain strong that the Committee should produce a significant outcome by the time it is required to report back to the WIPO General Assembly in September 2009.
