Lancé pour la première fois en 2026 par l’Organisation Mondiale de la Propriété Intellectuelle (OMPI), ce prix est décerné à des villes visionnaires, non pas pour ce qu’elles ont déjà accompli, mais pour les engagements audacieux qu’elles prennent en faveur de l’innovation et de la créativité au cours de l’année à venir.

Yerbol Suleimenov has spent his career helping shape innovation systems at the national and international level, combining scientific expertise with public policy and institutional leadership. A mathematician by training, he has advised governments and international organizations on science, innovation and economic modernization, contributing to reforms designed to strengthen research, technology and knowledge-based development.

Yerbol Suleimenov has held senior leadership positions within Kazakhstan's public sector, including serving as Deputy Chairman of the Science Committee at the Ministry of Education and Science, where he contributed to national science and innovation policy. His international experience includes collaboration with UNESCO and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), supporting initiatives that advance education, innovation and sustainable development.

Today, he serves as Independent Director at KIMEP University, one of Central Asia's leading higher education institutions. He also chaired the International Experts Board for the World Bank-supported project on the modernization of Uzbekistan's national innovation system and served as Adviser to the Minister responsible for science and innovation policy in Uzbekistan, providing strategic guidance on strengthening the country's innovation capacity and research ecosystem.

Holding a PhD in Mathematics, Dr. Suleimenov brings extensive experience at the intersection of academia, government and international cooperation.
