Skolkovo Patent School 2018

The annual Skolkovo Patent School took place on November 1 and 2, 2018 at the Skolkovo Innovation Center in Moscow, Russia. This year’s event aimed at providing information and practical knowledge on how to patent hi-tech projects in Russia and abroad.

Representatives of the state and private sectors gathered to exchange their views on the growing role of patents and on challenges in the field.

Speeches

In his speech, Mr. Grigory Ivliev, Director General, Federal Service for Intellectual Property of the Russian Federation (Rospatent) at the plenary session explained the role Rospatent plays in digitizing the IP system. This work makes the system more convenient to use. He also noted the importance of patents in driving scientific and economic breakthroughs in the country.

WIPO was represented by Ms. Olga Krysanova, Program Officer, PCT International Cooperation Division. In her presentation, Ms. Krysanova, described in detail the international patent system and its benefits and introduced an ongoing WIPO initiative to launch a new WIPO Global IP Platform aimed at improving user access to WIPO online services.

More than 200 participants took part in the conference. The event was organized by the Skolkovo Foundation in cooperation with WIPO.
