加拿大每八名人工智能发明人中有一人是女性

在2021年10月14日举行的产权组织知识产权性别差距系列研讨会(美洲地区)上,CIPO业务改进服务部代理主任肖恩·马蒂诺分享了CIPO关于人工智能领域性别不平衡报告的主要研究发现,并介绍了该局为跟踪该领域的进展而制定的两项新指标。

该报告将全球范围内85,000多件已授专利的发明(公布于1998年至2017年)与产权组织的《世界性别人名词典》相关联,查明了发明人的性别。报告发现,加拿大落后于全球平均水平——加拿大每八名人工智能发明人中只有一人是女性,而全球每四人中就有一人是女性。

为了帮助跟踪女性参与专利申请的可能改善,开发了两项新指标,以便与全球的性别不平衡趋势进行比较。

1. 性别分类指数(GCI)

GCI将第一年每类性别的发明人人数重新划定为100人,并在此基础上重新计算随后几年的发明人人数。这为每类性别的演变提供了易于阅读的数值。请跳转到上文视频的第06:20分钟

2. 女性相对参与率(RPW)

RPW将某一国家女性参与专利申请的比例与全球平均比例进行比较。RPW呈负值表明该国的表现低于全球平均比例,而呈正值表明女性参与专利申请的比例高于平均比例。请跳转到上文视频的第09:30分钟
