PATCOM is an association of commercial patent information providers based mainly in Europe, which works to ensure a fair balance between the free information services of patent offices, commercial value-added patent information services and users’ interests. This presentation includes an overview of how IPC8 data have been implemented in some of the major commercial databases, and outlines some of the challenges faced by commercial patent information providers when incorporating IPC8 into their products and services.
