Global Health and IP
Scientific and technological innovation has contributed to significant advances in public health. The challenge for policymakers is to establish an environment that stimulates health innovation while ensuring widespread access to new, more effective products to address unmet global health needs.
WIPO’s Global Challenges program seeks to raise awareness and understanding of the complex linkages between global health and access to medical technologies, innovation, technology transfer and trade. The goal is to leverage intellectual property (IP) as a tool that contributes to meeting the world’s most pressing health needs.

Mission Imagination
This episode features David Reddy, Director General of the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), who represents the pharmaceutical industry at the international level and in official relations with the United Nations. This innovative industry has developed new medicines to meet the world’s emerging health needs. Over the past two decades, it has delivered more than 940 novel active substances globally, protecting people against life-threaten diseases and saving countless lives.
This episode features Danish entrepreneur Ida Tin, Co-Founder and Chairwoman of Clue, a menstrual tracking app used by millions worldwide. Credited with coining the term “FemTech”, Ida is on a mission to leverage digital technologies to improve women’s health, including by helping them better understand and manage their reproductive health.
