Title I, Article 4 of the Consumer Act provides the definition of terms for purpose of the Act, relating, among others, to business name, firm name, counterfeit products, labeling, private labeler, trademark or trade name (Article 4(i); 4(v); 4(aq); 4(bf); and 4(bx)).
Title III, Chapter I protects consumer against deceptive, unfair and unconscionable sales acts or practices. Article 50(a)& (b) refers to acts of unfair competition related to intellectual property.
Title III, Chapter IV provides a legal framework for the labeling and fair package of consumer products, including, among others, the minimum labeling requirements for consumer products (Article 77), the mislabeling of food (Article 85); the special labeling requirements for cosmetics (Article 88); the mislabeling of drugs and devises (Article 89); and the labeling requirements of cigarettes (Article 94).
Title III, Chapter VI prohibits false and misleading advertising and sales promotion on consumer products. Article 112 sets out special advertising requirements for food, drug, cosmetic, device, or hazardous substance.
Article 173 of the Act states: 'This Act shall take effect thirty (30) days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.'
