The Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance (Chapter 593 of the Laws of Hong Kong) was passed on May 23, 2007, and came into force on August 2, 2012.
The Ordinance consists of 7 parts, 63 sections and 2 schedules. Section 25 and Section 26 of Part 4 address the problem of use of information that falsifies the identity of the actual registrant when registering for electronic addresses or domain names and false representations regarding registrant or successor in interest to registrant of electronic address or domain name.
This consolidated version of the Ordinance incorporates all the amendments up to the Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance 2014 (Ord. No. 18 of 2014), which was passed on November 26, 2014.
Section 44(1) & (1A) of the consolidated version were amended by Section 51 of the Ordinance No. 18 of 2014, which came into force on December 5, 2014.
