The International Symposium on Geographical Indications is organized every other year by WIPO in cooperation with an interested Member State. It brings together representatives of Member States’ administrations, producers of GI products and specialists in the field of geographical indications. The Symposium is a forum for an exchange of ideas and views on various issues relating to the use and protection of geographical indications.

The International Symposium on Geographical Indications is organized every other year by WIPO in cooperation with an interested Member State. It brings together representatives of Member States’ administrations, producers of GI products and specialists in the field of geographical indications. The Symposium is a forum for an exchange of ideas and views on various issues relating to the use and protection of geographical indications. The Symposium will offer insights into the technicalities of the subject as well as providing information on recent developments in this field. WIPO and the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) of Thailand jointly organize the 2013 Worldwide Symposium on Geographical Indications, in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 27 to 29.

El Simposio Mundial sobre Indicaciones Geográficas es organizado por la OMPI cada dos años, en cooperación con un Estado miembro interesado. Dicho Simposio reúne a representantes de las administraciones de los Estados miembros, fabricantes de productos protegidos por indicaciones geográficas y especialistas del ámbito de las indicaciones geográficas. El Simposio permitirá intercambiar información y opiniones sobre el uso y la protección de las indicaciones geográficas. Asimismo, proporcionará indicaciones sobre algunos aspectos técnicos del tema y se espera que contribuya al debate actual sobre las indicaciones geográficas a nivel nacional e internacional. La OMPI, el Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual del Perú (INDECOPI) y el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores del Perú organizan conjuntamente el Simposio Mundial 2011 sobre Indicaciones Geográficas en Lima, Perú, del 22 al 24 de junio.
