Law 9.615/98 (also called 'Pele Law') grants the Brazilian Olympic Committee exclusive rights over the use of the flags, mottos, anthems and Olympic symbols as well as the names “jogos olímpicos”, “olimpiadas”, “jogos paraolímpicos” and “paraolimpíadas”.
It also includes arena rights whereby media rights to sporting events belong to the sport entity organizing or taking part in such an event, but allowing for up to three percent of the event’s duration to be transmitted by non-broadcasting title holders for journalistic, sporting or educational purposes (for details see Chapter IV; Section II, Articles 6, 8; Section III, Article 11; Section IV, Articles 15, 18-A; and Chapter V, Article 27-A).
This consolidated version of the Law No. 9.615 incorporates all the amendments up to Law No. 13.322 of July 28, 2016.
