Since 2023, with support from the Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global (FIT Japan IP Global), almost 22,000 patent documents from Argentina and more than 34,000 from Mexico were processed using Optical Character Recognition (OCR). They were then proofread to ensure high quality. These documents are now fully searchable in PATENTSCOPE.
This new content adds to earlier full-text collections created using automatic OCR. PATENTSCOPE now offers about 33,000 documents from Argentina and more than 211,000 documents from Mexico.
Full-text access lets users search the complete technical content of patents, not just bibliographic data. This helps innovators, companies, researchers, and patent offices find prior art and follow technology trends.
The new full-text documents were also added to the training data of WIPO Translate. This improved translation quality for English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Spanish patent information is now easier to access worldwide, and Spanish-speaking users can better understand patent documents published in other languages.
